Now is not the time to be silent. Into our lives the Word has brought us lessons of many genres; poetry, song, stories, answers to life’s questions and the life of Jesus to frame your life’s theology. Jesus reminds us of how important it is to love not only ourselves but to love those around us. Around us means not only your households but extend love to those who are lost to the streets and elsewhere. Love for you has been the driving force as to why you respond to life as you have. Every situation, trial and circumstance including happenstances has been framed through your lenses of love. Love was the gift that Paul speaks about as rather having than anything else in the world. Paul says that it is “greater than faith and hope.” Mark 4:24 let me rephrase, “Consider carefully what you hear (about love). However you use it (love) and how much you give to others (love) to the same degree you will receive it (love) and it will be multiplied. If you have it (love) you will be given more (love); whoever does not have it (love and gives it) what little you have, you will no longer (be able to feel love) because it (love) will be taken away from you.
Imagine you having no love in you life. If you are to be the living, loving, moving being that was created by God then you will have to begin to share more love. You say “I’m all tapped out.” “They can’t get another drop.” Maybe they aren’t the one, maybe you should cast our pearls before folk who will who as the old usher says “appreci-a-late” them. Love can be given immeasurably to those who receive it. Yes some will not appreciate nor receive your love but keep on loving anyhow. I think there is up close love and long distance love. Some folks I love at a distance because getting close to them means a beat down, mentally and spiritually. So I love and I love close and the closer I get to you…you know the words. Consider what god wants from us that we pull those who desire but don’t have love closer so that they may feel the breath of the Holy Spirit upon them. Today get close to someone, wrap your arms around them and tell them they are loved. After all you have been through, you really know how to love.
